| Wheelock Whitney Hall, a library and training
center within the Minneapolis Community and Technical College,
provides a beautiful place to study and learn. A striking three-story-high
maple wall in the library atrium dominates the space. Here,
precise blueprint matching of wood grains provides a smooth,
rich look to the space.
Interior materials were selected to
coordinate and contrast with the existing building, with
wood as a key component of the palette. We chose maple to
provide a soft, yet elegant appearance, and cherry to enhance
the tones of existing dark brick.
The project included circulation
desks, study carrels, paneling, window frames, heater covers,
ceiling grids, handrails and decorative laminate casework.
Acoustic fiberglass material was added to absorb sound on
the walls. | |
